Lollipop Turkey? Submitted by: Kevin Chertkow
When I was a kid growing up, my father's hobby was making wooden toys. He would make anything from wooden cars and dump trucks to full size rocking horses. Recently, my daughter had a school project, which was to make a 3D turkey. Of course my father knew exactly what to make. So, we all worked together to make this lollipop turkey. This is a great holiday craft you can do with your child(ren) and here's how to do it. All you need is a 3/4" thick piece of plywood that will fit the three stencils. You can download and print the stencils below. You will also need, jig saw or coping saw, a drill and a couple of screws. Don't forget some lollipops and paint for the final touches. After you download and cut out the stencils, trace them on to the plywood. Using your jig saw or coping saw cut out the pattern for the three pieces. You need to screw the three pieces together with just two screws from the back of the bird. Make sure your screw is long enough to make it into the body of the bird. When you have attached the three pieces together, drill small holes where the feathers (lollipops) will go. You want the holes just deep enough to so the lollipops won't fall out. Now, all you need to do is decorate your holiday lollipop turkey. Yes, you will need a printer...
